Welcome to my Thanksgiving! At my house the day always starts with the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Followed by cooking and more cooking until the house smells absolutely divine. (It always amazes me how long it takes to prepare everything and how quick it is to eat it. Lol.) After we enjoy our meal we sit back and relax and enjoy visiting with family and friends. We eventually stuff some pie into our still full tummies and sit back again. Somewhere in between we clean up the kitchen and dining room. Our evening usually ends with us all sitting around to watch a holiday movie.
Thanksgiving is one of those holidays that you want to dress nice yet comfy. So, what do you wear? Here is an article that may help you answer that question. Whether you are meeting with family or friends at a restaurant or at home, this article has 11 different ideas of outfits that will still fit at then end of that big meal. Did you know I do most of my photography sessions on location? We live in such a beautiful area that the backdrops are limitless. But I do have a studio as well. Unfortunately it is not big and elaborate, but it does produce some sweet photos. I have a portable backdrop that I set up in my garage. Ok, let me explain a little something here before you picture this. Lol We don't use our garage for our cars, we use it for an extra space for parties and other get togethers. We have a fridge, bar, table and chairs in there. It does have storage and gardening tools as well, so that part is a garage. When I open the big door, it allows me to get that natural light I love for my photography. I also use several digital backdrops to provide my clients the perfect photo. ![]() |

We all ask ourselves from time to time "what should I wear?" But did you know there is a site that will help you decide what to wear based on the weather? Is it sunny and 65 or rainy and 73? It doesn't matter, this site will tell you what to wear.
I opened the door to let our sweet dog, Annie outside. And there eating her food was a dreaded skunk. Right there by the door. I called Annie back into the house but it was too late. I heard the spray! I smelled the smell! I had no choice but to keep my dog, who now smelled like a cross between burnt garlic and burnt popcorn, in my house until the wretched animal left my yard. It seemed like hours!!!!
I look in my closet to pick something to wear for church and find myself passing by the white clothing for fear that the old adage of "no white after Labor Day" still stands. Well, I decided to do some digging and apparently it is not so true any longer. According to People magazine, the wearing of white before Labor Day may have originated in the 20's. White was worn in the Summer because it was cooler than darker colors. White was then replaced by darker colors after August because the weather began to get cooler.
I was just at the courthouse taking photos of my daughter and her fiance for their engagement. It was beautiful to see the green grass against the colored leaves on the ground. Fall is definitely here. I thought I would share some tips on what to wear for family photos this time of year. Click here to read a great article that gives some great ways to dress to look your best in those photos with the colors of Fall.

Here is a perfect example of using flash wrong. I am so embarrassed to show this photo, but here goes. This is my sweet son about 4 years ago. Notice the shadow behind him? I now know that if I had bounced my flash it would not have done this and would have been more natural. Also, I should have had my son step away from the backdrop a little and used less flash. That could have eliminated the shadow as well.
