How do you avoid this? Well, here are a few tips.
- Use a tripod. I know we don't carry our tripod everywhere we go, but this is the simplest and most obvious way to avoid motion blur. If you don't have a tripod, brace yourself against a solid object like a wall or tree for extra stability.
- Be sure to hold your camera properly. You should have one hand on the body and one hand on the lens.
- Use your Noise Reduction or Stabilization option in your cameras menu. This doesn't prevent all blur, but it helps.
- Use the correct shutter speed. The rule of thumb is to shoot at a shutter speed faster then your focal length. (ie. focal length of 35 mm = shutter speed no slower than 1/35th of a second)
