In Remembrance!!!!

In loving memory and thankful hearts for your service. Granite Hot Shots you gave your lives to protect so many. You will always be remembered.

FotoTip Friday!!!!

Want to know how photographers get that beautiful look of running water? I did too, so I learned and now I will teach you. It is actually quite easy. Shutter speed is your answer. Here is a photo that explains it pretty well.

The slower the shutter speed the more blur you get from the water which in turn makes it appear to be in motion. The faster your shutter speed the more the water looks like it is in mid air.

Here are a couple more photos I took.

Try it the next time you are around running water. Even from your faucet, just for fun. Play with the shutter speed and see what you can create.

Throwback Thursday!!!!

This is a photo I took back in 2012 at one of my first mini sessions. This was actually a Christmas mini session I did for a school as a fund raiser. I got lots of interest and it was so much fun!
Mini sessions are where it is at for a customer. You get great photos at a great price, and it is not time consuming. Most sessions only take 20 minutes.
Check back from time to time for advertisements about when I will be doing my next mini session. I will give you a hint: I have one in the works that will be fun and easy and save you money, especially if you have children. Like I said check back, so you don't miss out!

Throwback Thursday!!!

Today's photo is a very special one. This couple was so very sweet to work with. They won a contest I was doing for a free photo session. Since these photos were taken, I am sorry to say that the wife passed away. Some of the photos I took were used to remember her at the funeral. This photo was taken back in 2012 and it is still in my heart as if it was a few months ago. Photos are so priceless! That is why I do what I do. 💞

Throwback Thursday!!!

I love looking back on past photos. Not only do they bring back sweet memories, but they show me how I have improved in my photo taking.

This photo was taken back in 2012. It was my first head shot session. I have since learned that this photo would actually not qualify as a head shot, because a true head shot is taken from the shoulders up.

Head shots are very important tools for some professionals. Actors and models live and die by their head shots.

It is important to find out what the client is using the head shot for. This helps in picking backgrounds and personalizing the photos to the client.  Taking time to talk to the client also helps relax any anxieties they might have about having their photo taken.

I have taken several other head shots since then including a few of myself. And no they aren't selfies. hehe

Take some of yourself. You shouldn't always be the one behind the camera. 😉

More Lasting Memories!!!

The past few weeks have been so full of memories and life changing moments. My heart is so full of pride and joy. My kids are everything to me and creating lasting memories for them is so very important to me. Every little new thing in there life is an opportunity to create a lasting memory.

Ashley, my oldest, is getting married in a little over a year. I stop typing so I can just take that in!! Wow!! I am speechless!! Ok, anyway, we went dress shopping about a week ago.

It was a surreal time. Another first in my life and in hers. It was a moment right out of a reality show. The family, the ooohs and aaaahs as she came out of the dressing room and of course the tears when she found that dress that took our breath away!!!

Then, there was my oldest son's graduation!  Another one about to hop out of the nest. He has worked so hard for this moment and graduated with honors. We couldn't be prouder of him! He will be headed to college in a couple months but thankfully it is here in our town, so we get to hang on to him a little while longer.

But even though I hang on, I need to let go at the same time. This season has been sohard yet it has taught me so much about myself, my marriage, and who my children are becoming.

I still have 2 at home for a few years, so I don't have an empty nest just yet. I will hang on to them but I see them stretching to see where their wings will take them once they fly. That's ok. It is a blessing. It hurts but it is a good hurt. I am a proud mama that's for sure!!!
